Is Balzer Food a manufacturer, distributor, or exporter?
Balzer Food is a distributor and exporter. We do not own production plants — we source from carefully selected Polish and EU manufacturers and handle sourcing, quality verification, export documentation and logistics on behalf of our clients. This model lets us offer a far wider product range than any single plant, and to match each order to the producer best suited to the specification, volume and destination.
How long has Balzer Food been operating in the food export industry?
Balzer Food Sp. z o.o. was established in Warsaw in 2020, but our team brings over 15 years of combined experience in international food trade, sourcing and logistics. Our founder’s background in the industry goes back to 2009, including certification as an EUROP beef carcass classifier issued by the Polish Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection (IJHARS).
Where is Balzer Food headquartered?
Balzer Food is headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. Our office is at 18A Żupnicza Street, 03-821 Warsaw; our registered office is at ul. Skarbka z Gór 144A/2, 03-287 Warsaw. The company is entered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000836379 (NIP 5242899969, REGON 385867350).
What markets and regions does Balzer Food primarily serve?
Our core markets are North Africa and the Maghreb, West and Central Africa, and the Middle East, with a growing presence in Western Europe — particularly France, Spain and the United Kingdom. We ship both by sea in reefer containers and by road across the European Union.
What is the scale of Balzer Food’s operations?
Balzer Food reported over PLN 36 million (approximately EUR 8.5 million) in annual revenue, up from PLN 30 million the previous year. We handle everything from single-pallet orders to full reefer container loads, and we work with importers, wholesalers, processors and food service distributors.
Is it possible to visit or audit the facilities Balzer Food works with?
Yes. We arrange plant visits and third-party audits for serious buyers, subject to the producer’s consent and biosecurity rules. Many of our clients request an audit before their first container — we see it as a reasonable step, not an obstacle. We can also commission an independent inspection by a recognised surveyor such as SGS or Bureau Veritas at the buyer’s request.
Where can we meet Balzer Food in person?
We exhibit and attend international food trade fairs including SIAL Paris and Anuga Cologne, as well as regional and national food trade events in our key markets. Contact us to arrange a meeting at an upcoming fair or at our Warsaw office.
What food safety certifications does Balzer Food hold?
We source exclusively from establishments certified to internationally recognised food safety standards — IFS Food, BRCGS Food Safety and HACCP. Every plant we work with operates under EU veterinary approval, holds its own approval number and is registered in the EU TRACES system. Certificates and approval numbers are verified before the first order and re-checked at each renewal, and copies are provided to the buyer on request.
Does Balzer Food offer Halal certified products?
Yes. We supply halal certified beef and poultry from plants holding valid halal certification, which is a core part of our offer to clients in the Maghreb, West Africa and the Middle East. Halal certificates accompany every shipment where required. Kosher certified products can be sourced on request, subject to availability and lead time.
Do Balzer Food’s products meet EU export standards and the standards of destination countries?
Yes. All products originate from EU-approved establishments and comply with EU food law, including Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 on general food law, Regulations (EC) No 852/2004 and 853/2004 on hygiene, and Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on labelling. Each shipment is additionally prepared to meet the import requirements of the destination country — veterinary health certificates, country-specific labelling and language requirements, and any certification required by the importing authority.
How does Balzer Food ensure traceability from source to delivery?
Every consignment is traceable to the batch and the production plant. We retain the plant approval number, batch codes, production and expiry dates, certificate of analysis and health certificate for each shipment, in line with Regulation (EC) No 178/2002. If a buyer raises a query on any delivery, we can identify the exact production lot and the plant it came from.
What veterinary and sanitary controls are performed before shipment?
Before dispatch we carry out pre-shipment inspection using statistical sampling (AQL, ISO 2859-1), covering organoleptic and physical characteristics — colour, odour, texture, lean-to-fat ratio, ice glazing, absence of foreign bodies — plus net and gross weight verification against the packing list. Core product temperature is measured at loading (frozen at −18 °C or below, chilled at 0–4 °C), reefer containers are pre-cooled before stuffing and temperature data loggers accompany the shipment. Certificates of analysis are reviewed for microbiological parameters (Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, Enterobacteriaceae, E. coli, total viable count), chemical parameters (heavy metals, veterinary drug and pesticide residues) and composition. Loading is supervised and seal numbers are recorded and reported to the buyer. The official veterinary inspection and export health certificate are issued by the Polish veterinary authority at the plant
What meat products does Balzer Food supply?
Beef (including halal), poultry, frozen meat, livestock, animal by-products and canned meat. Our beef comes from carefully selected cattle and covers a range from primal cuts to trimmings; poultry includes whole birds, cuts and frozen products.
What dairy products does Balzer Food supply?
Milk powders — skimmed, whole and flavoured — milk fats, vegetable fats, oils and cheeses. Milk powders are our strongest dairy line and we supply them in standard 25 kg bags as well as to buyer specification.
What egg products does Balzer Food supply?
Egg powders (whole egg, egg white, egg yolk and specialised blends), liquid egg products and fresh eggs.
Does Balzer Food supply anything beyond meat, dairy and eggs?
Yes. We also trade coffee beans, cocoa, mushrooms and other food commodities on request. If you are looking for a product not listed on our site, ask — our sourcing network in Poland is broader than our published catalogue.
Does Balzer Food offer private-label or custom-branded products?
Yes. We arrange private-label production with our partner plants, including custom packaging design, printed cartons and buyer-branded labelling. Minimum volumes and lead times depend on the product and the producer — contact us with your specification for a concrete quotation.
In which languages can product labels be printed?
Labels can be produced in any language required by your market — French, Arabic, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and others — in line with the labelling rules of the destination country. Language, mandatory declarations and marking are agreed before production begins.
What packaging options are available?
Standard export packaging includes vacuum-packed or block-frozen product in cartons, palletised and stretch-wrapped, loaded as full container loads. Milk and egg powders are supplied in 25 kg multi-layer paper bags or big bags. Carton weights, pallet configuration and container loading patterns are agreed with the buyer before production. Custom packaging and labelling are available on request.
What are the shelf life and storage requirements for Balzer Food’s products?
Shelf life depends on the product and the producer, and the exact date is stated on each batch’s documentation. As a general guide: frozen meat is stored at −18 °C or below with a shelf life of up to 24 months; chilled meat is stored at 0–4 °C with a short shelf life measured in days to weeks; milk and egg powders are stored in dry, cool conditions with a shelf life of 12 to 24 months. Full specification sheets with exact figures are provided with every offer.
Can Balzer Food accommodate custom product specifications or blends?
Yes. We work with producers who can adjust specifications — fat content in meat trimmings, protein and fat levels in milk powders, custom egg blends — to match a buyer’s technical requirements. Send us your specification sheet and we will confirm feasibility, price and lead time.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our minimum order depends on the transport mode:
The single-pallet minimum makes Balzer Food a practical partner for European buyers testing a new product or topping up stock between larger deliveries.
What payment terms does Balzer Food accept?
We work with advance payment (telegraphic transfer) and irrevocable letter of credit (L/C), the latter governed by UCP 600. Terms are confirmed per order and depend on destination, order value and the history of cooperation.
In which currencies does Balzer Food invoice?
We invoice in EUR and USD. The currency is fixed in the order confirmation.
What is the process for placing an order, from inquiry to delivery?
Throughout the process you deal with one point of contact.
Are product samples available before placing a large order?
Yes. We supply samples for laboratory analysis and technical evaluation before a first commercial order. Sample and courier costs are usually borne by the buyer and are commonly credited against the first order.
Can Balzer Food provide product specifications and documentation upon request?
Yes. Technical data sheets, certificates of analysis, plant certifications (IFS, BRCGS, HACCP, halal) and sample export documentation are available on request at the inquiry stage. We would rather you check the paperwork before ordering than after.
Which countries does Balzer Food export to?
Our established markets include:
If your market is not listed, contact us — we open new destinations on request.
What transport methods does Balzer Food use?
Sea freight in reefer containers for intercontinental shipments, road transport in refrigerated trucks across Europe and to neighbouring markets, and air freight for time-critical or high-value consignments. The mode is selected per order based on volume, destination and urgency.
What is the typical delivery time for an order?
Within Europe, road deliveries take 1 to 5 days from dispatch. By sea, total transit is typically 2 to 5 weeks depending on destination port and sailing schedule, plus production and loading time. Air freight can be arranged within days. Exact timing is confirmed at order confirmation.
Who is responsible for customs clearance and export documentation (Incoterms)?
We trade on Incoterms 2020, most commonly FCA, FOB and CFR. Under all terms we handle export customs clearance in Poland and provide the full export documentation set. Import clearance in the destination country is the buyer’s responsibility, and we supply every document your customs authority requires.
Can Balzer Food handle both small and large-volume shipments?
Yes. We handle single pallets by road within Europe as readily as full container loads and multi-container programmes by sea.
Can one shipment combine meat, dairy and egg products?
Yes, where temperature regimes and import regulations allow. Combining frozen products in one container is usually straightforward; mixing categories that require separate veterinary certificates needs checking against the destination country’s rules, which we do before confirming.
What happens if a delivered product doesn’t meet the agreed specification?
We handle claims according to a defined procedure, consistent with standard international practice in the frozen food trade.
Notification deadlines. Visible defects — shortages, damaged packaging, broken seals, thawed product — must be reported before unloading is completed, on the day of arrival, with a corresponding note on the CMR or bill of lading. Latent defects must be reported within one calendar day of discovery and, in any case, no later than 14 days from delivery for frozen products, or no later than three days before the expiry date for chilled products.
Evidence. Quality claims must be supported by a report from an independent, internationally recognised inspection company — SGS, Bureau Veritas, Control Union or equivalent — and, where applicable, by the official veterinary authority of the destination country. The report should document the container and seal numbers, the condition of the cargo, measured temperature, batch codes and photographic evidence of the unloading. Where a claim is found justified and attributable to the seller, the cost of the survey is borne by Balzer Food.
Preservation of the goods. The claimed goods must be kept in the temperature regime appropriate to the product, with original packaging, labelling and batch markings intact, and made available for joint inspection. Goods that have been sold on, processed or disposed of before inspection cannot be assessed and the claim cannot be upheld.
Tolerances. Natural weight loss in transit of up to 1% does not constitute grounds for a claim. Each consignment is claimed separately; a claim relating to one consignment does not suspend the delivery or payment of others.
Our response. We acknowledge every claim and respond in writing without undue delay, and in any event within 10 working days of receiving a complete claim file. Where a claim is justified and the goods remain fit for sale, we offer a price adjustment or a replacement consignment. Where the goods are not fit for sale, we agree with the buyer on return, destruction or redirection, and credit the value accordingly.
Liability. Our liability is limited to the invoice value of the consignment concerned and to directly incurred, documented damages. We do not accept liability for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profit or claims from the buyer’s own customers.
Applicable law. Contracts are governed by Polish law and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the court competent for the seller’s registered office, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing.
What languages does Balzer Food’s customer service operate in?
We work in Polish, English, French, Italian and Russian. French-language support matters to us because much of our client base is in French-speaking Africa. Product labels can additionally be printed in any language your market requires.
Does Balzer Food follow ethical sourcing practices?
Yes. We work with established EU producers operating under EU animal welfare, hygiene and environmental legislation — among the strictest regulatory frameworks in the world. Supplier certification and plant approval status are verified before cooperation begins, and we do not source from unverified intermediaries.
Does Balzer Food work with first-time importers?
Yes. We regularly work with buyers placing their first international order and will walk you through documentation requirements, Incoterms, payment instruments and the import rules of your market. A clear first shipment is worth more to us than a fast one.
